Why I build Mac utilities
I switched to a Mac from Windows. Most of it was better. The part I used every few minutes was not.
On Windows each Chrome profile gets its own taskbar button, so client work and personal accounts are two separate things you can see and click. On the Mac they collapse into one Chrome icon. Every switch turned into a hunt: click Chrome, get the wrong window, open the profile menu, wait, lose my place.
Everything I found that fixed it ran a second copy of Chrome with its own data folder, which I measured at 2.8 times the memory (1.67 GB became 4.6 GB with three profiles open) and makes you sign in to every account again. That is a trade, not a fix. So I wrote the dock I wanted.
How I work
- Measured, not guessed. Superdock's icon size, spacing, glass and running dots were matched to Apple's Dock by comparing screenshots pixel by pixel. When a change looks right but measures wrong, it gets reverted.
- Written from use. I run Superdock every day on my own machine. The guides on this site cover apps I actually use, and I say where something else beats mine.
- One person answers. Support, refunds and licence questions all come to me at hello@superdock.app.
What I build with
Swift and SwiftUI, targeting macOS 14 and later on Apple silicon and Intel. Superdock drives the Dock through Accessibility APIs and private SkyLight interfaces, which is why it is distributed directly rather than through the Mac App Store. Every release is signed with an Apple Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and updated over a signed feed.
What I write about
Mostly the things I hit myself: window management on macOS, Chrome profiles, multi monitor setups, and the gaps people notice when they move from Windows.
Download free Superdock is free to download. The dock, window previews, the switcher and multi-display support are all free. Chrome profile icons: 14 days free, then $7.99 once. macOS 14 or later.
