SuperdockCan I click the empty space at the end of the Dock to open Mission Control or Show Desktop?
Short answer. Not with Apple's Dock; the glass beside the last icon does nothing. Superdock gives each end of the dock an action you choose: Show Desktop, Mission Control, Stage Manager or nothing. By default the left end shows the desktop and the right end opens Mission Control.
Why this beats hot corners and gestures
Hot corners fire when you did not mean them to, and trackpad gestures do not exist on a mouse. The ends of the Dock are the two spots your cursor already passes many times an hour, and they are large enough to hit without looking. Windows put "Show desktop" in the corner of the taskbar for the same reason.
Setting it up
- Open Superdock Settings, General, Dock Actions or choose Dock Actions from the menu bar icon.
- Pick an action for each end. Nothing, Show Desktop, Mission Control or Stage Manager.
- Click the glass beside the first or last icon. The click is consumed by the dock, so macOS's own click-the-wallpaper behaviour does not fire as well.
A click that lands over another app's window in that strip goes to the window as normal; only clicks on the empty glass run the action.
Frequently asked questions
Does it conflict with 'Click wallpaper to reveal desktop'?
No. Superdock swallows the click on its own glass, so the Tahoe wallpaper click does not also trigger.
Can I turn it off?
Yes; set either end to Nothing.
